Project Management Essentials: Knock Your Next Project Out of the Park!

Are you ready to make a BIG impact at work? Your next project could be a real opportunity for you (and your team) to shine!  Unfortunately, most professionals have never been given the essential toolkit needed to execute business projects successfully.

Without this powerful set of skills, many otherwise talented people are left wondering:

  • Why does working on this project feel painful and chaotic?
  • How am I going to tell my boss that we’re going to blow the deadline?
  • What will it take to stop feeling like I’m drowning at work?

It’s time to stop worrying. In just three powerful half-day virtual sessions, Persimmon’s Project Management Essentials course will teach you our signature approach to truly effective project management.

What You’ll Learn

Whether you are a new, developing, or “accidental” project leader, you’re going to need to master the essential skills of Project Management to knock your next project out of the park.
In three half-day workshops, we’ll teach you how to apply the five essential steps to effective Project Management.

  • Step 1 – Strategize
Get your team and leaders to agree on what will make your project most successful. This is important so that your team is aligned, focused, and charging to the same goal. (Without it, running your project can feel a bit like herding cats.)
  • Step 2 – Plan
Work with your team to translate your strategy into an actionable plan. When everyone understands who is doing what by when, you can team can fully mobilize towards its goal.
  • Step 3 – Execute
Execute your plan with both discipline and adaptability. It takes a special set of skills to keep a team moving in the same direction. This step is about learning to execute with discipline, while staying nimble and adaptable in the face of changing circumstances.
  • Step 4 – Troubleshoot
Keep your eyes open and your hands on the wheel. There’s no such thing as project management “autopilot.” This critical step is about continuously scanning your environment for project risks, issues, and challenges, and addressing them head-on.
  • Step 5 – Wrap-Up
Validate that expectations are met. The best project managers never take it for granted that success has been achieved. Instead, they proactively validate with their customer (or boss or sponsor) that expectations have been met.

You’ll also learn how to customize these essentials to work with your unique circumstances:

• Organizational culture and priorities
• Project complexity
• Your experience
• Your team’s experience
• Your timeline
